It pays to read the question. I thought I was being careful when I set up the Google Play Store listing for my app “Your word against mine” and that I’d followed all the Google advice to the letter on adding a promotional video.

My hope was that, if you do everything Google wants you to do, then this can only count in your favour when trying to rank on the Play Store.

Currently I have three apps on the Google Play Store which have a promotional video on YouTube.

I didn’t read the fine detail on the Google help pages and used the short form video URL for my Google Play Store app pages. I spotted this, this morning and I’ve just rippled through the correct full form promotional video URL for all my apps. I’ll be keeping a close eye on Play Store visitor numbers and install rates as a result of this change and will be tracking the impact.
